Under the sea... under the sea. It all comes together, under the weather, like you and me.
That's a song from "A Little Mermaid".
As you can probably tell, I am not great with knowing the words of a song, hence always a karaoke mike, never a band. What is it like to live under the sea? Well for one thing, it's hard to breathe. As you might imagine there are a great many things that resemble life under the sea like say living in a world dominated by... SOMETHING.
Another song comes to mind about the sea and that is the "Home by the Sea" song by Phil Collins. Strangely, I have loved that song since I first heard it and not the least of which is because my friend had a nice Honda CRX back in the day with a styled out subwoofer to make it even more amazing a tune. But I never understood the words. In fact, you could say that about almost every Michael Jackson song, but in this case I understood the words but didn't put together what it meant. It talks about someone on the run maybe, acting like a zombie perhaps, "living here so long undisturbed... dreaming of the time we were free."
And even the movie Splash with that doofus, Tom Hanks, (am I doing it right Lawrence?) he's in it and the girl comes out of nowhere to make this business owner a king but only if he goes "under the sea". Yeah it's hard to get it and mostly it's a lot of nonsensical, at-least-Daryl Hannah's-fine fun but think about it some more and it makes more sense.
"OH, that's why the COPS were after him!"
Living in a world ruled by others that bow to might-is-right, is one filled with a lot more power but also with a lot more fear and that is what it is like to live there. But you must go willingly yes? You have to choose to live there because, like the sharks underwater know, if you stop moving you die.
That's what it was like for me many times after being made offers. They were like "come into the water", and I was like "come out of the water", but it's clear to me now that I was a fool and that both were impossible. But I have said this before, and it bears repeating, there are...
"Impossible women, creating impossible men."
